Tanknology has recently added Secondary Containment System Testing to its wide array of petroleum service offerings.
Secondary containment testing is required at all new sites upon installation, within 6 months after installation and every 36 months thereafter. All existing sites are required to be tested before December 31, 2002 and every 36 months thereafter.
Secondary containment systems provide protection from releases from underground storage tank (UST) systems. Leaking sumps, piping, dispenser pans, and spill buckets could result in product being released into the environment causing Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE) to appear in drinking water. Testing of secondary containment ensures any potential release will be contained thus providing sound risk management as well as environmental compliance.
Tanknology, a licensed contractor, utilizes precision testing methods that meet tank, piping and sump manufacturer requirements. By utilizing Tanknology’s innovative approach to testing secondary containment systems, tank owners will realize the following benefits:
Minimal Site Downtime - Most sites can be tested in one day with minimal station shutdown required.
Minimal Site Waste - Using proprietary systems and equipment, Tanknology is able to greatly reduce the amount of wastewater generated during testing.
Single Site Visit - Some other methods require a second site visit after 24 hours to ensure no water level change has occurred. Tanknology can test most sites in a single visit.
